Arsene Wenger: Watford game not about Troy Deeney's comments

Arsene Wenger: Watford game not about Troy Deeney's comments

"It's better you focus on how you want to play, than on what people say", Wenger said in the wake of Arsenal's 2-0 win over AC Milan, which ended a four-match losing streak for the Gunners.

Calls for Wenger to step down as Arsenal boss have reached a crescendo after a succession of defeats that included a heavy loss in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City last month, with Ferguson emerging as an unexpected source of support.

"If anyone tells you you haven't got to prove anything to anyone, they are wrong", he said.

The Arsenal playing staff face a test of wills for the remainder of this Premier League season, with any chance at the title gone and the growing gap between them and the top four forcing a sense of peril in north London. The forward missed the side's impressive 0-2 win in Milan due to his involvement with Dortmund in the Europa League meaning the 29-year old forward should be a lot fresher than his teammates, eager to get used to the pace of the league.

As we all know, this is Wenger's Arsenal we are talking about. "We've just got to stick together".

"We have got another game on Sunday and then next week, the job in this competition is not done yet.this is AC Milan. We have to be ready".

Fresh terms have been mooted for some time, with the England global having played his way back into favour this season and Arsene Wenger claiming to feel "positive" on talks.

The 26-year-old England worldwide has a little more than three months remaining on his current deal but negotiations over an extension remain at an impasse.

Watford inflicted a painful defeat on Arsenal with two late goals at Vicarage Road in October, with Hornets striker Troy Deeney infuriating the Gunners by questioning their lack of "cojones" after the game.

Wenger spoke to the media ahead of Thursday's UEFA Europa League win over Milan and confirmed Bellerin, Monreal and Alexandre Lacazette would miss the continental clash, per the club's official website. I may be anyway, but I would be even more mad.

"All I can tell you is that we are no closer to sorting anything out", Wilshere said.

The Gunners, however, have not failed to score in any of their last 11 games against Watford in all competitions and Wenger is staying positive ahead of the challenge. "It made us live days of sadness, we lost a friend, a great man and player".

'I am concentrating on my team only and I want to see my team in the best way, I am not thinking about the other team'.
