Egypt Presidential Elections: Expatriate Voting Ends as Saudi Arabia Records Highest Turnout

The Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs has launched an operation room to follow up on the 2018 presidential election overseas. Overseas voting started Friday and ends Sunday.

Egyptian Foreign Minister's Deputy Hamdi Loza said previously that all foreign missions have been provided with electronic scanners so voters' ID cards and passports can be quickly scanned, noting that the whole expatriate voting process will be monitored by surveillance cameras linked with an operations room at the foreign ministry.

The vote in Egypt is scheduled on March 26-28.

The election is being conducting in 139 embassies and consulates across 129 countries according to data from the NEA. Ibrahim told reporters the commission received no complaints from any polling stations and the voting process went smoothly.

Russia's flagship carrier Aeroflot announced on March 13 the resumption of regular flights from Moscow to Cairo starting April 11, and launched ticket sales on the same day.
