Joy Behar finally apologizes for mocking Christians

Vice President Mike Pence told Fox News' Sean Hannity on Monday that ABC News star Joy Behar called him to apologize for mocking his Christian faith - and he urged her to apologize to "tens of millions of Americans who were equally offended" during the conversation.

"The View" showed a segment of Newman telling her fellow competitors that Pence, an evangelical Christian, was scary and "extreme" and that "he thinks Jesus tells him to say things".

"I just think it demonstrates how out-of-touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people", he said. I was raised to respect everyone's religious faith.

"I said to Joy, of course I forgive you, it's part of my faith experience", he continued.

"I give Joy Behar a lot of credit", Pence said. "Like I said before, it's one thing to talk to Jesus".

Still, that wasn't enough for the second-in-command.

"I'm still encouraging her to use the forum of that program or some other public forum to apologize to tens of millions of Americans who were equally offended", he said.

"To have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness is just wrong", Pence told C-SPAN.

On an episode of "The View" last month, Ms. Behar agreed with co-host Sunny Hostin's discomfort with "my vice president, um - speaking in tongues and having Jesus speak to him".

"We would be begging for the days of Trump back if Pence became president". According to one poll conducted in 2015, almost two-thirds of Americans (63 percent) say Christians are facing intolerance and that is up from half just two years prior.

"I sincerely apologize for what I said", Behar added.

Shortly after Omarosa's comments aired on CBS, Behar responded on "The View", saying it sounded like Pence was suffering from mental illness. It's another thing when Jesus talks to you.

Joy Behar criticized Vice President Pence's faith by saying that hearing from Jesus is actually called "mental illness".

Behar's comments led to the Media Research Center's launch of a campaign to hold the television host accountable for what they called "anti-Christian bigotry".

Behar then added that she finds it weird when people hear messages from God.

But Pence said he encouraged Behar to go further.

Behar's call to Pence was undisclosed until Disney CEO Bob Iger was asked about the controversy during last week's meeting with investors.
