"Logitech Announces Companion Accessories for New 9.7" iPad

Though Apple's Pencil remains an option, 6th-generation iPad owners will be able to buy Logitech's Crayon, a stylus with a $49 price tag that will be made available directly to educators starting this summer. This will protect the new iPad when students accidentally drop it or abuse it. Crayon does have support for tilt, though, with Logitech saying it also offers low latency and "sub-pixel precision".

In addition to the Crayon, there is also the new Logitech Combo 2 - the company's latest case and keyboard offering. Designed in conjunction with popular accessory manufacturer Logitech, the Crayon is targeted toward younger iPad users who want to make the most out of the device's educational tools.

As a nice touch, it automatically pairs to the tablet and is designed with a flat surface that is easy to hold and won't roll off a desk. The design is sealed to be spill-resistant, and key presses are silent to avoid distraction. It has a battery life of 8-hours and can last a full day of use.

The new entry-level iPad also features Apple Pencil support.

Powered by iPad, teachers never have to worry about charging the keyboard.

The keyboard physically connects to the Rugged Combo 2 case using a proprietary connector to deliver a secure keyboard connection, making iPad an approved device for testing. Like the case, the Crayon also has a rugged design that should survive better with the kids than the dainty Apple Pencil.

What else makes this $99 Rugged Combo 2 so special?

Chief among them is a new iPad stylus made by Logitech.

Both Logitech accessories will become available to USA schools and school districts in the summer. More information about the accessories is available on Logitech's website.
