Solar Summit begins at Rashtrapathi Bhaban in India

Solar Summit begins at Rashtrapathi Bhaban in India

The initiative was launched by France and India during the Climate Conference (COP21) in Paris in December 2015. From Japan to Peru, be it Greece or Rome, Egypt, Incas and the ancient Mayan culture, every civilisation has glorified and given importance to the sun. This is one of the most promising coalitions to combat climate change.

With the formal launch of the project, India has plans to generate 1000, GW of solar energy and raise 1 trillion dollars by 2030. Moreover, ISA has been registered (No. 54949) under the United Nations (UN) under article 102 of the UN charter, with effect from February 9, 2018.

ADB's energy policy commits $3 billion per year by 2020 for promoting clean energy, including solar energy projects in its developing member countries, said Mr.

"Of the 121 prospective nations, 61 have joined the alliance, 32 have also ratified the framework agreement. Let's get to work", Macron said.

Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) have also signed separate joint partnership declarations with the ISA. While hailing the "Solar Mamas", a group of women solar engineers, he also referred to the countries which chose to leave the climate agreement. "They didn't wait, and they didn't stop, because some countries made a decision to just leave the floor, and leave the Paris agreement".

French President Macron in his address said, "With Prime Minister Modi we are committed and we have same obsession-creating momentum, inspiring people and gathering them to deliver results".

Indian minister of energy R.K. Singh said that ISA has potential to have a huge impact on the future of the planet, with renewable energy now a viable alternative. "It is my fervent hope that the ISA will serve as a laudable vehicle towards this goal". It aimed to meet the growing demand for energy of at least 25 percent over the next decade, driven by the growth of the global economy, which was hard to achieve through a single source of energy.

TDP pull-out of Modi govt too little, too late: Congress
However, an alliance with the BJP boosted TDP's chances and it got 35 more seats excluding BJP's 4 seats (TDP-102, YSRCP-67). Calling it an insult, Naidu had said that TDP waited for 4 years but BJP betrayed the state by not giving it special status.

"All of us her have experienced global warming".

The President said this Sunday, at the Founding Conference of the International Solar Alliance, held in New Delhi, the capital of India. He said, "Focus was on capacity building".

The share of solar energy was just 0.23% in January 2012 but has since risen to 5.9% at the end of this January, though share in generation still remains low due to low conversion factor (just 17% compared to 80-90% for coal-based power projects).

The French President co-chaired the summit with with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan that was also attended by the heads of 23 nations and 10 ministerial representatives.

He said Bangladesh is "always ready to mutually collaborate and cooperate for ensuring affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all".

Modi had in a speech at London's Wembley Stadium in 2015 proposed the idea of an inter-governmental organisation comprising of 121 countries, which lie either completely or partly between the two tropics, with an aim to promote solar energy.
