Timberwolves sign Derrick Rose with 16 games left in season

National Basketball Association star Derrick Rose will finish out the rest of the season playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Star Tribune reports. The Timberwolves did not release contract terms, but a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press the deal is for the remainder of the season.

This move reunites Rose with Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau, who was Rose's coach during their time together with the Chicago Bulls.

It's a huge reunion in Minnesota because Rose will also play alongside former Bulls' teammates Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson. There was a decent amount of National Basketball Association fans who wondered why Rose wasn't signed for almost a month after the Utah Jazz waived him following his trade acquisition from the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played only 16 games (starting 7), due to ankle and knee issues, averaging 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

AUBURN BASKETBALL: Tigers to face Alabama again
Texas A&M , No. 8 in the Big 12, and Alabama , No. 9, went head-to-head in the second round of the SEC Tournament Thursday. Up next, the Crimson Tide will face No. 1-seed Auburn on Friday in the quarterfinal round at the Scottrade Center in St.

Eagles get Michael Bennett from Seattle
Now comes word from Mike Silver of NFL Media that the Seahawks are willing to listen to trade offers for Thomas. Bennett, 32, is owed around $21 million over the next three years, though none of that money is guaranteed.

County election results: Becerra wins Democratic Primary
But does it signal a November wave? In fact, 1.5 million Republicans turned out , beating Democratic turnout by half a million. Culberson, and Republicans are counting on a bruising primary fight over the next two months to hinder Democrats' chances.

It's fair to wonder how much Rose can help a team that had only 15 games remaining after Thursday. "I just want to play and have the opportunity to show that I can still play". How does the point guard fit into a team that seemingly has greater needs and is embarking on a tough stretch of games?

Thibodeau coached Rose for five seasons in Chicago, guiding the point guard to an MVP season in 2010-11 - their first campaign together. "Talking to Thibs, he sounds like he's going to give me the opportunity, so it's all about learning the guys and fitting in at the right time".

"I'm still here", Rose said. "He's been around. He's been in a lot of games". Of course, Jones and Jeff Teague have barely played together at all this season, so two-point guard lineups haven't been the norm.
