26 kids, 3 others killed in school bus accident in HP's Kangra

At least 26 children died on Monday after a school bus fell into a deep gorge in Nurpur of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district.

All the students were below the age of 10; bus driver, 2 teachers also dead. Superintendent of Nurpur district Santosh Patial confirmed the development.

Eyewitnesses said the driver probably lost control over the vehicle which skidded into the gorge.

In a tweet, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind said, "Extremely saddened to learn about the tragic school bus accident in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh". Food and Supplies minister Krishan Kapoor was among the senior state functionaries at the accident site to supervise rescue operations.
