Apple Music hits 40 million members, names a new leader

Apple Music has promoted Oliver Schusser to lead its global operations under the new title president of Apple Music & worldwide content, Billboard has confirmed.

Separately, the Cupertino, Calif. -based tech giant said it has promoted Oliver Schusser to lead Apple Music's global efforts, giving him the title of vice president of Apple Music & International Content. Apple SVP Eddy Cue announced his promotion in a memo earlier this morning. Schusser played a key role in Apple's acquisition of Shazam, and had worked overseas on the App Store, iTunes, iBooks and more.

It's another milestone for Apple's service, which hit 30 million subscribers in September 2017, although Apple still has a way to go before it tops Spotify's 70 million paid subscribers around the world.

Antoine Griezmann salvages point in Madrid derbi at Bernabeu

Deadly fire in Trump Tower in Manhattan
In a tweet , President Donald Trump thanked the fire department and claimed that the fire had already been put out. Nearly two decades ago, Trump had fiercely rallied against a measure to install sprinklers in high-rise buildings.

That confirmation backs up MBW's analysis from earlier this week, which showed that Apple Music is now outpacing Spotify in terms of global subscriber additions. This monthly growth rate in the 5% area tops the 2% growth that market leader Spotify is achieving.

Spotify, however, remains far out in front, with around 75m subscribers around the globe. This helps produce a steady flow of new subscribers for Apple Music. Apple Music charges the same prices.
