Apple to replace battery for some 13-inch MacBook Pros

The company acknowledged that a "small" number of Macbook Pros, assembled between October 2016 and October 2017, come with battery-related issues.

Since not all 13-inch Pros without Touch Bar are affected (other and older models aren't prone to the same component failure) you'll first have to make sure you're covered under the program.

13-inch MackBook Pro units qualifying for this replacement are non-Touch Bar models which were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017.

Apple said the battery issue isn't a safety concern and battery replacements will be offered free of charge at Apple service providers, retail stores or by mailing the device in to the Apple fix center.

The program covers affected MacBook Pro models for five years after the initial retail sale, suggesting the program will run into 2022.

If this MacBook does launch it could follow a trend of cheaper devices arriving from Apple.

At this point, anyone with a MacBook Pro probably doesn't care why batteries sometimes expand; they just want to know if their computer is going to suddenly fail. You can head over to this link where you need to enter the Serial number of your Macbook Pro.

The only fix is to replace the battery.

In case, you have already gotten your battery replaced, you can claim for a refund, Apple has assured.

To find out serial number of your Macbook, close your device and turn it over.

Apple warns that the machine will be examined prior to any service to verify it is eligible for the program and in working order.
