Bayern Munich confirm new coach to succeed Heynckes

Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic said, "we lost to Real past year and meant to do better this time".

Salihamidzic was quoted on Bayern's Twitter feed as saying a three-year deal had been agreed on Thursday and will take effect from the start of July.

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes believes that the club have made a "good choice" in appointing Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach, Niko Kovač, as his successor.

Under Kovac, Frankfurt have been one of the Bundesliga success stories of recent years, but the 46-year-old's inexperience has raised eyebrows. Born in Berlin, Kovac played for Bayern as a midfielder between 2001 and 2003, when he was a team-mate of Salihamidzic.

Since Jupp Heynckes took over from Carlo Ancelotti this season the Bundesliga champions have been unbeaten in the most event in football. "His brother Robert Kovač (44) will join Niko Kovač, who is now Eintracht Frankfurt head coach, as assistant".

The Frankfurt coach said his move would have "no influence" on the team's remaining games of the season.

"If anybody think this is the easiest draw then I can not help this person; they obviously didn't see both games against Barcelona", he said. "We're convinced he's the right coach for the future of FC Bayern".

Bayern Munich have confirmed Niko Kovac will replace Jupp Heynckes as the club's manager next season. Both Frankfurt and Bayern last week denied that Kovac was on his way to Munich .

Mary Kom was away from the boxing ring from so much time and it was quite a tough task to over perform on her comeback. Mary Kom defeated Kristina O'Hara of Northern Ireland by a unanimous 5:0 verdict to take the title.

"The offer has surprised us at this stage of the season, but we owe a lot to Kovac", Bobic told reporters at a news conference on Friday.

Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic blasted Bayern for not getting in touch beforehand, and for the timing of its announcement. With Real looking vulnerable despite Ronaldo's extraordinary performances, Bayern has a chance to provide their coach with the ideal send-off - and even provide a little bit more romance. This year, they are fighting for Champions League qualification, sitting fifth in the Bundesliga table.

And Rodriguez is looking forward to lining up against Real in the Champions League last four.

Kovac's first senior coaching job came with the Croatia national team, whom he led at the 2014 World Cup.

Bayern did not reveal the cost of poaching Kovac, but both Bild and Sport Bild claimed that his departure before the end of his Frankfurt contract in 2019 would cost Bayern 2.2 million euros (S$3.6 million). Bayern have thought of themselves and not for a second about Eintracht Frankfurt. "I was really impressed", he said.

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel had already turned down Bayern and is expected to be the next coach of Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool may be the happiest team of the four after drawing the relative novices - but Roma proved in nullifying Barcelona that they will not be a team just along for the ride.
