Canadians don hockey jerseys to honor 16 killed in bus crash

The girls hockey team was on a bus in upstate NY in 2005 when it slammed into a transport truck parked on the side of a highway in a crash that killed four people.

The Broncos bus was travelling to Nipawin for a playoff game against the Hawks when it was hit by a tractor-trailer on Highway 35 near Tisdale.

She was "extremely proud to be part of the Broncos family", her family added.

"She wore many hats for the team as the athletic therapist but her family told me she truly loved her job and did it with tremendous joy and enthusiasm", she said. "My heart went out to them and my staff also approached me and they wanted to do something so we just pulled together as a big family", she said.

"Over the years I've travelled a lot with my high school team", Oates, a triple A player, said before the start of classes.

"I met Dayna and her family and I know how much they love each other". Demmans said when the Broncos needed a new trainer, he suggested Brons and she joined them previous year.

Brons graduated from University of Regina, where she got a degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies.

As of Monday, an online effort to raise money for the team's players and families was already approaching $6 million.
