Deadly fire in Trump Tower in Manhattan

The apartment destroyed by a raging fire in New York's Trump Tower that killed a resident and injured six firefighters had no sprinkler system, authorities said.

The fire sent thick, black smoke pouring from the windows of the skyscraper that bears the president's name. Trump said at the time that he couldn't afford to install sprinklers, reported the New York Post.

In the end, the legislation passed and was signed by Giuliani.

In a tweet, President Donald Trump thanked the fire department and claimed that the fire had already been put out. Nearly two decades ago, Trump had fiercely rallied against a measure to install sprinklers in high-rise buildings.

A man died in the recent Trump Tower fire.

"It was a very hard fire, as you can imagine", Nigro told reporters outside the building in midtown Manhattan.

Firefighters battled a blaze at the skyscraper in Manhattan on Saturday evening, with the apartment said to be "virtually entirely on fire" when they arrived.

The cause of the fire is now unknown, but according to the New York City Fire Department, the fire was centered in a single large apartment, where they found one critically injured resident.

Reacting to his death, Taylor said: "Words can not express how sad and shocked I am to hear the bad news about Eric's passing". His final world championship, in 2000, was Bristow's 23rd in a career during which he won over 70 professional titles.

The driver was a German citizen, said Herbert Reul, state minister for internal affairs in North Rhine-Westphalia state. A search of the man's Muenster apartment late Saturday turned up more fireworks and a deactivated AK47 assault rifle.

'But the problem with the bill is that it doesn't address the buildings that need sprinklers the most.

"Very confined (well built building)". A man who was in the apartment that caught fire was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, officials said. "Firemen (and women) did a great job", the president wrote on Twitter at 6:42 p.m. Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, and a contractor is on site to analyze the damage.

The upper-level residential floors are not equipped with fire sprinklers, according to Nigro.

The fire on Saturday was the second at the building this year - an electrical fire caused two minor injuries in January.

"Although New York has taller towers and more high-rise residents than any other city in the nation, no sprinklers are required in apartment buildings here".

The headquarters of the Trump Organization are on the 26th floor.

'That's not something we're going to jump to conclusions on, ' he said, adding that it was still very much under investigation.
