Donald Trump to skip South America summit, will send Mike Pence

Trump vowed on Monday that the USA would take swift action in retaliation for the suspected chemical weapons attack on civilians in Syria on Saturday, amid hurried diplomacy that signalled allied military strikes may be imminent.

The trip had been expected to be tense and awkward because of Trump's repeated disparagement of the region over immigration, narcotics and trade.

Last April, after a Sarin nerve agent attack killed more than 80 people in a Syrian opposition-held town, Trump ordered the firing of dozens of cruise missiles at a Syrian government air base from U.S. Navy ships in the Mediterranean. "The President will remain in the United States to oversee the American response to Syria and to monitor developments around the world".

Trump was scheduled to attend the eighth Summit of the Americans in Lima, Peru on Friday and Saturday before continuing on to Bogota, Colombia on Sunday. Anyway, it seems like America will be making huge strides forwards in their handling of the Syria crisis, even if it means Trump missing an important summit in South America.

However, their lead lasted less than five minutes as Griezmann capitalised on some poor defending to equalise it at 1-1. Zinedine Zidane's men now trail Atletico by four points with just seven La Liga games to play.

Ernesto Valverde's side hold a nine-point lead over Atletico at the summit and could stretch that to 12 with a win over Leganes on Saturday.

Markieff Morris had another understated yet productive all-around game Wednesday with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. The Wizards increased their lead to 104-87 with 7:35 remaining in the contest after 3-pointers by Tomas Satoransky and Beal.

This will be the second trip to the region for Vice President Mike Pence. "That's why Trump's absence from the summit, where for the first time there won't be a US president among the participants, marks a key point in ties and in the application of policies based on consensus", Rodriguez said. The possible presence of Trump at the Summit of the Americas in Lima was seen as a cause of tension in the meeting, as the president was with an agenda aimed at seeking regional support for his hostile stance against Venezuela, as confirmed by his administration on Monday.

President Donald Trump plans to send Vice President Mike Pence to an upcoming summit in South America the president has made a decision to skip. Syria and Russian Federation have denied there was a chemical weapons attack and have proposed worldwide inspections.

"U.S. interests are not in Latin America, but in the Middle East".
