Karnataka Election: Congress list doing rounds in social media is 'fake'

Siddaramaiah was in the national capital to attend the party's steering committee meeting to screen the candidates for the Karnataka polls.

BJP becomes the second party after Janata Dal (Secular) to announce a limited candidate list for the 12 May polls, that is fast turning into one of the most fiercely contested polls in recent times.

AICC screening committee headed by Madhusudan Mistry and comprising AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and the Karnataka duo met later in the evening to fast-track the elections process.

The first list of BJP, comprising 72 candidates, for the upcoming May 12 Karnataka assembly elections has been released. In a press release here on Sunday, Mr. Duggappa has said that he has been working for the party for the last four decades. "The list under circulation is fake", Siddaramaiah said in a tweet.

The list is likely to be announced before April 15 and the members of the selection committee discussed candidates to be fielded from Belagavi Bengaluru, Gulbarga and Mysuru. The list had names of Congress leaders, who were allegedly chosen to contest in said constituencies.
