'Perfect weather' for Easter Egg Roll

President Trump and first lady Melania hosted the annual Easter Egg Roll on the south lawn at the White House early Monday.

President Donald Trump holds hands with the Easter Bunny on the Truman Balcony of the White House in Washington, Monday, April 2, 2018, during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed that Trump invited Putin to Washington during the call, but said the White House was among "a number of potential venues" the two leaders discussed for a bilateral meeting.

"Against the backdrop of these events, it's hard to discuss the possibility of holding a summit", Ushakov said.

Following that call - for which Trump was criticized for congratulating Putin - the president told reporters that he and the Russian leader had a "very good call" and would "probably get together in the not-too-distant future".

Mr McFaul said he feared that Mr Trump "thinks that a good meeting with [Mr] Putin is the objective of his foreign policy with Russian Federation".

Turkey says the YPG is a terrorist organization, alleging the group is linked to Kurdish separatists inside Turkey, known as the PKK, which was designated a terror organization by both the USA and the EU.

Are you surprised to see this in Trump's White House? She says the administration has no further comment on the matter.

Former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter were poisoned with a nerve agent in the United Kingdom last month, and officials said Moscow was behind the attack.

The talks were in preparation for Trump's meeting with Putin which took place at the Group of 20 summit in Hamburg in July 2017. "I hope the Americans won't abandon their proposal to discuss the possibility of holding the summit", he said.

Mr Trump has avoided criticising Mr Putin personally and experts are anxious about the message a meeting between the pair sends in a time of increasingly strained relations between Russian Federation and the West.

The visit was offered in a phone call last month, the official said, when Mr Trump rang to congratulate Mr Putin on his re-election. Aslund notes that Trump seems "excited" by the idea of meeting with Putin.
