Trump can trump Brown over Guard

The Arizona troops were being sent after Texas announced Friday that it would send 250 National Guard members and helicopters to the border. Under that law, the National Guard remains under the command and control of each state's governor, but receives federal pay and benefits.

Trump then signed an order Wednesday night to deploy National Guard troops to the border.

Critics have questioned whether the Guard deployments are necessary or are taking away dollars that the Pentagon has said is needed to fix an urgent readiness crisis.

Doug Ducey said about 150 Guard members would deploy next week.

President Donald Trump recently announced his plan to dispatch National Guard troops to the southern border to assist with security efforts. Instead, they will "provide air support, reconnaissance support, operational support, construction of border infrastructure and logistical support", according to a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Emergency & Military Affairs.

California Governor Jerry Brown, a Democrat, has not said if his state's National Guard members will participate.

Brown has repeatedly fought with Trump over immigration protection.

Instead, Ducey is relying on what he said is a 200 percent increase from March 2017 to this past March.

Trump Wants New Tariffs On $100 Billion In Chinese Goods
The U.S says China treats American companies unfairly by restricting access to its markets and stealing proprietary technology. Peter Navarro, White House trade adviser, said "talk hasn't been cheap with China", during a Fox News appearance today.

He says the encounter was consensual. "We have had two available African Americans for jury selection in this case", Steele said. The camera showed the judge, prosecutors and defence lawyers, but not potential jurors who were being questioned as a group.

Protesting TDP MPs Dragged Away From Modi's Residence
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with the protesting MPs and expressed solidarity to their cause. The hours-long drama ended at night only after the TDP MPs were marshalled out from the House.

"I don't suppose it's a partisan downside or an id downside", he talked about. As "commander in chief" of their states, governors may send their state National Guard to respond to natural disasters - floods, fires or earthquakes - but also emergencies such as the 1999 rioting during the Seattle World Trade Organization meeting. "You show me somebody who is for drug cartels or human trafficking or this ammunition that's coming over a wide-open and unprotected border here", he said.

But given that there is still much to be determined, including how many troops the Trump administration planned to deploy to the border and for how long, the true cost of the initiative remains to be seen.

"Arizona National Guard personnel will not be used in an enforcement role and will not have any law enforcement powers", he said.

Ducey said the troops would be stationed in the Tucson and Yuma sectors.

Walker sent a letter Monday to Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan voicing his support for what he called Trump's "aggressive actions to secure our nation's southern border".

The department said the troops would not carry out law enforcement activities without the defense secretary's approval and would be armed only in "circumstances that might require self-defense".

Apprehensions are still well below their historical trends during the terms of former presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama, both of whom also deployed the Guard to the border.
