'Gotham' Renewed for a Fifth and Final Season

An episode count for Gotham Season 5 has not yet been determined, but it's possible this upcoming season could consist of only 13 episodes as opposed to the traditional 22. Alas, justice prevailed, and Gotham has been renewed for Season 5. Despite all this, though, Gotham has a lucrative streaming deal, global cache given its title/content, and comes from a studio in WB that FOX likely wants to keep a relationship with as they transition to a new phase. Gotham was the last remaining series on the current lineup that FOX hadn't made any decisions on until Sunday.

Young Bruce Wayne's caped crusade will not be coming to an abrupt end after all. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the pickup is for 13 episodes, though the network and producers Warner Bros.

It'll be interesting to see what FOX does with Gotham.

Word is after four seasons of the prequel story, the final season of Gotham will focus on the final transformation of Bruce Wayne into Batman.

While it is sad to get a final season for Gotham at this point, it's something we speculated on earlier today for a number of different reasons, including the show's recent ratings trajectory and also some of the Fox acquisition talk behind the scenes.

This last season, the character of "The Joker" was introduced to the fans of Gotham, but without ever saying that name. Hence, the 100-episode benchmark became a goal for long-running shows in order to appear more valuable. "Good work guys." Other than Bruce finally becoming Batman, the show's writers haven't given fans many indications about what storylines will be included in season five.
