In Custody After Reports of Shots Fired at Trump Golf Resort

Doral police say the man enter the lobby of the golf course at 1:30 a.m. Friday morning. The fire alarm has been set off, Perez believes in an attempt to lure police officers into the lobby. There were no other known victims, the Doral Police Department said on Twitter.

"These officers did not hesitate one second to engage this individual that was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel", Miami-Dade police Director Juan Perez said, WPLG Local 10 reported.

In describing the suspect, Perez said that "this guy was ready for war, he was waiting for our officers to come in", Fox News reported. Police said he fired a handgun at the roof and chandelier of the hotel.

The incident at the club, owned by United States president Donald Trump and the host venue for a World Golf Championship between 2007 and 2016, occurred in the early hours of this morning.

Perez said the man was "yelling and spewing some information" about the president.

So far, the suspect has not been identified, and his motive is unknown. His neighbors were evacuated Friday morning as officers swept the area looking for booby traps, Perez said.

Initial reports are that he had been waving an American flag inside the lobby of the resort and anxious workers called 911, WTVJ-Ch. Every day they keep our community safe.

Homeland security and the Secret Service officials are both on the scene, according to the station.

The Secret Service later showed up to investigate, saying they were "on the scene and working closely with our law enforcement partners".

President Donald Trump's son Eric has tweeted that he's grateful for the efforts of Doral and Miami-Dade police after a shooting at the Trump National Doral resort in south Florida. According to CBS4 News in Miami.
