Jeffrey Tambor Will Indeed Appear in 'Arrested Development' Season 5

"Arrested Development" is returning to Netflix on May 4 - but not with its new season quite yet. On Tuesday, series creator Mitch Hurwitz announced a recut version of season 4 would hit the streaming site Friday and that a return date would be coming "real soon". The actor recently left his award-winning Amazon series Transparent after allegations or harassment, which Tambor denied. Those charges led to an internal investigation by Amazon.

While we're sure Arrested Development fans will be happy to see the actor return for the new season, the news comes as a bit of a surprise.

Netflix greenlit the much-anticipated fifth season last May, before the allegations surfaced.

Tambor, who won a Golden Globe in 2015 for his portrayal of Maura Pfefferman in Transparent, was officially fired from the Amazon series in February following an investigation into multiple sexual harassment allegations made against the 73-year-old.

Ant-Man and the Wasp Gets New Trailer

Lysette, who is herself transgender, said in a statement to Deadline that when she wore a lingerie top and shorts for a scene, Tambor said to her, "My God, Trace". It's worth noting that he has denied the allegations on a number of occasions, saying he has "never been a predator - ever", in a statement released past year.

"He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrust back and forth against my body", Lysette said.

Additionally, Tambor's former assistant Van Barnes made allegations that Tambor groped her, made lewd comments and threatened to sue if she told anyone. "I am deeply sorry if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive or if I ever offended or hurt anyone". Alia Shawkat voiced her support for the women who accuse Tambor in late April and said she found the news disappointing.

A Netflix spokesperson has now confirmed to the Associated Press that Tambor will appear in the upcoming fifth season of Arrested Development, although the extent of Tambor's role is not known.
