N Korea says peace talks not result of USA pressure

Trump is due to meet Kim to discuss the North's nuclear weapons program in the first-ever meeting of sitting leaders from the two countries, with the USA president saying Friday that the two sides had decided on a time and place.

Undoubtedly fixated on winning the Nobel Peace Prize, President Trump and other government officials are saying the president is responsible for bringing the two Korea's to the peace table with his policy of maximum political pressure and sanctions and this will lead to a possible denuclearization of the region.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will speak on a new hotline once the date for the Kim-Donald Trump summit is set, the Blue House said Monday.

Trump told reporters on Friday that arrangements for the meeting had been set but didn't elaborate any further. South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported the military assets include eight U.S. F-22 stealth fighter jets recently sent to participate in the annual joint South Korea-U.S. air training.

North Korea is not happy with the way the United States has been explaining its decision to open negotiations over its nuclear programme.

Although there have been recent tensions, there has also been talk of releasing three Americans from North Korea before the next summit according to USA Today.

The main theme of the unprecedented meeting between Washington and Pyongyang will be the denuclearization of North Korea.
