India qualified for the tournament after eight years finishing on top of Group A after registering wins against the likes of Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and Macau in the qualification round.

He went on to describe each team's strengths and warned his team not to underestimate India although he admits he does not know much about Stephen Constantine's boys. The tournament, for the first time, will have 24 teams in the final stages.

Indian unicorn Flipkart's board approves $15 billion deal with Walmart

The tough draw came two days after the Azkals were placed in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup alongside defending champion Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and victor of the qualification round playoff between Timor Leste and Brunei.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chhetri said: "The AFC Asian Cup is an enormous opportunity for us and we are looking forward to it". It does not matter whom India have drawn.

"I was part of the National Team in 2011 in Doha where we last played in the Continental Championship". The team we have at our disposal at the moment had been doing well together for quite some time. Their form, however, dipped dramatically in the next stage of the qualifiers, but they still managed to hold World Cup-bound Australia and UAE to draws. Thailand and Bahrain are not very tough teams to play against; we can expect a draw at least. They also recorded two wins against Kyrgyz Republic in a pair of friendlies, a 2-1 decision in Bishkek in September 2016 and a 1-0 results at the Rizal Stadium two months later. The top two teams from each of the six groups will progress to the second round, as will the best four third-placed finishers. The final is in Abu Dhabi on February 5. I feel India can get something out of this group.
