Andrew Luck's Father, Oliver, Named XFL Commissioner And CEO

The XFL's original announcement of plans to return in 2020 was met with skepticism for a variety of reasons, but news Tuesday made it clear that this plan is very real.

It's not a gimmick.

Luck left West Virginia as AD in 2014 to become the NCAA's executive vice president of regulatory affairs.

Remember, the XFL is doing away with all the shtick it used to have. and is trying to be legit. In 2001, the XFL debuted to big ratings on NBC before viewership fell off sharply and the league folded after one season.

He's also held high-level posts with Major League Soccer and the Houston Sports Authority. Eight teams will play a 10-game schedule, and a four-team playoff will determine the champion.
