Anxiety hit us hard, says Brazil coach Tite after Switzerland draw

Brazil's stuttering performance stemmed from anxiety at playing their first World Cup game, coach Tite said after their 1-1 draw with Switzerland in Group E on Sunday. Most of the hard tackles were directed at Brazil's talisman striker, Neymar Jr.

Mexico's win came on the back of hacing played played 68 games since 2015, the most by any of the 32 teams at the tournament.

- Xherdan Shaqiri has been directly involved in five of Switzerland's last six goals at major tournaments (four goals, one assist).

Neymar is making a comeback to football after undergoing a surgery to fix the hairline fracture of the fifth metatarsal that he sustained during his club PSG's 3-0 win over Marseille in February. Though they had to go through the play-offs to qualify, Switzerland put together an excellent campaign in the European preliminaries and know what it takes to impress against a big-name team in an opening match, having beaten eventual champions Spain in their first outing at South Africa 2010.

Brazil meet Switzerland in the newly built 45,000 Rostov Arena in Sunday's evening game but before that Germany play Mexico in a mouthwatering tie in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, where they will be hoping to return for the final on July 15. "Now we need to think about the next match".

He is the only man to beat the world number one on clay in the last two years - in Madrid this spring and in Rome last year. The forecast says there is a chance of rain. "I need to regenerate and have a good breakfast to keep up my good level".

"I was expecting to get a victory so, of course, I'm not happy with the result", Brazil coach Tite told a news conference.

"They have two lines of defense and they do it very well". We had 20 finishes but we should have make the goalkeeper work harder.

The Brazilians remain haunted by their 7-1 loss to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semifinals that was followed by a 3-0 defeat against the Netherlands in the third-place playoff. The Europeans are ranked sixth in the world, per Federation Internationale de Football Association, and should provide the South Americans with a stern test.

"Our motto was play with the love of winning and not the fear of losing", said a delighted Osorio.

"Against a hard and strong opponent you need to be realistic and sometimes you play passes without thinking too much but I think the team has shown great determination and true spirit".
