Best Trade Offers Cavs Can Make for Kawhi Leonard

Both the Lakers and the Clippers have expressed their desire to add Kawhi Leonard to their team this offseason. The Lakers and Clippers want Leonard, but they're concerned with his health after he spent the majority of the season rehabbing.

Any NBA GM should, of course, ask themselves this question before they trade or sign a player. (Kawhi can opt out of his contract following next season and become an unrestricted free agent).

League sources told Chris Haynes of ESPN that Leonard didn't like how the Spurs handled his quad injury, which forced him to miss all but nine games last season. To be more specific, how would the four-time MVP like it if the Cavs pulled off a move that would land them embattled San Antonio Spurs superstar Kawhi Leonard?

There is no shortage of National Basketball Association teams that are interested in acquiring San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, it just remains to be seen which team can come up with the best package for the 26-year old All-Star. He is eligible to receive a five-year $219 million contract extension from the Spurs this summer.

Could Hill and Leonard be traded for each other yet again?

The question is whether either team would put their best assets on the table for Leonard without a guarantee he would re-sign.

The Knicks wouldn't have a chance at getting Leonard if they wanted to get him in a trade. Brandon Ingram could be the ideal replacement for Leonard in the wing, while Kyle Kuzma will be teaming up with LaMarcus Aldridge in the Spurs' frontcourt.

Leonard's leverage in stopping a trade to a place like Boston or Philadelphia is his threat to not pick up his player's option or re-sign there, because of his desire to go to L.A. or NY. Some combination of guard Patrick Beverley, forward Danilo Gallinari and forward Sam Dekker would have to be on the table too, or including both 2018 first-round picks could get San Antonio's attention.
