Deal's OFF!! Nabil Fekir to stay put as Lyon make public declaration

Liverpool offered no indication as to the nature of the problem, although Fekir sustained a serious injury to his right knee when playing for France three years ago.

Sport claimed on Friday that Liverpool were close to the signing of Fekir from Lyon, with the report also claiming that the France worldwide is one of manager Jurgen Klopp's main targets.

"Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false information disseminated by many media about the transfer of Nabil Faulkner to the Liverpool club", read the Lyon statement.

A deal worth up to £60m now appears to be off the cards for good, however, with Lyon deciding to pull the plug at the last minute after Liverpool reportedly attempted to lower the agreed fee.

French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet revealed the Lyon star had passed a medical ahead of a statement from the Ligue 1 club that negotiations had ended.

Twitter Reacts as Marco Cecchinato Stuns Djokovic
I'm very happy because it's unbelievable to beat Novak Djokovic in a quarter-final at Roland Garros . The storm seemed to have blown itself out and Djokovic served for the set at 5-3.

Andrew Luck's Father, Oliver, Named XFL Commissioner And CEO
In 2001, the XFL debuted to big ratings on NBC before viewership fell off sharply and the league folded after one season. Remember, the XFL is doing away with all the shtick it used to have. and is trying to be legit.

Liverpool were obviously cautious of spending £54 million on a player that could have a long-term knee issue.

"He's in the middle of negotiations and I think it's done", he said.

However, it does not look likely that any deal for Fekir will happen whilst France are in the World Cup, with Fekir being named as part of the 23 man squad that will play in Russian Federation.

Nevertheless, they have already made some impressive additions in time for next season, with Naby Keita and Fabinho joining the Reds from Leipzig and Monaco respectively.

The 24-year-old was being courted by Liverpool as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January. That's logical, we've done it for other players. There has also been some speculation that the Frenchman may move after the World Cup, but Lyon's actions today have made that seem less likely.
