Alisson Becker Joins Liverpool From Roma In Reported Record Transfer

Liverpool have completed the transfer of Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker from Italian Serie A side Roma on a multi-year deal.

In addition, 26-year-old forward Salah - who has scored 44 goals in 52 appearances for the club - signed a new five-year contract this summer.

"I'm really happy, it's a dream come true to wear such a prestigious shirt for a club of this size that is used to always winning".

Perhaps the World Cup has played a part too as there were a number of exceptional goalkeeping performances, particularly from Courtois and Schmeichel, as the former won the tournament's Golden Glove award.

Liverpool forked out £67.5million to procure the goalkeeper from Roma, days after Loris Karius committed another error in the 3-2 friendly win over Tranmere Rovers.

Roma confirmed on Thursday that the Brazil worldwide stands to earn the Giallorossi up to €72.5million, making him the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

"The full package is just good", the coach added.

The Brazil worldwide joined the Reds from AS Roma on a long-term deal to further strengthen Jürgen Klopp's squad for the new campaign.

"Since we started the pre-season - people have obviously never been in a hard situation so they think it's amusing to make some noise at the moment when he touches the ball or catches the ball and stuff like that, but that's how it is".

Unlike the Reds' two full-backs, however, Alisson is likely to be rotation-proof and comes in at £0.5m cheaper than van Dijk, who, it should be said, failed to score in the league last season.

It is notable that each of these three deals for more defence-minded players considerably exceed the £36m spent to bring last season's top scorer Mohamed Salah to Anfield from Roma last summer. 'We met again in the game when we were up against each other [in the Champions League last season].

"It shows the value of goalkeepers, of course, in this moment".

"How we all do, he needs to adapt to the English Premier League, that's how it is".

He said: "I think nowadays - even though back when I started playing goalkeepers were more about shot stopping - keepers have to play".

The Brazilian's ability to help improve his sides' defensive record was evident in Serie A last season; Alisson conceded ten fewer goals than Szczesny had shipped in the previous campaign and kept four more clean sheets.

Referring to the fee paid by Liverpool, Klopp said: "I think it's something we have to do".
