Barcelona Sign Malcom From Bordeaux After Roma Drama

Barcelona have completed the €41 million (£36.5m/$48m) signing of Malcom from Bordeaux, with the Liga giants having hijacked a proposed switch to Roma for the Brazilian forward.

Roma have moved to quickly put the disappointment of missing out on Malcom behind them, announcing the arrival of Sweden worldwide goalkeeper Robin Olsen for an initial €8.5m fee.

It was announced on Monday that an agreement had been reached to take the 21-year-old to Serie A.

Malcom agreed a five-year deal to move to the Camp Nou, with a release clause expected to be fixed at €400m.

Last night it was reported that Malcom would join Roma from Bordeaux, just months after Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United were all linked with the winger, after the French side agreed a deal for him.

Roma to sign Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux

The Brazilian, who can play as a winger or attacking midfielder, will undergo a medical on Wednesday before being unveiled as Barcelona's third signing of the summer.

But Malcom became their primary target after a campaign during which he scored 12 goals and laid on eight assists in all competitions.

"The player will sign with the Club for the next five seasons, until the end of the 2022/23 season".

"Malcom is a daring, pacey forward with an ability to shoot from distance".

Already this month they signed Clement Lenglet for €35 million and Arthur for €40 million.
