"Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic will attend the final match of the FIFA World Cup, where Croatia will be playing against France".

"No-one gave us a chance before this World Cup, but with our quality, desire, togetherness and fighting spirit we have shown throughout the tournament, we are in the final".

The Croatian president rounded off a successful week by playing her part in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit and watching her nation reach their first world cup final.

Ivan Rakitic has heaped praise on his Croatia teammate and skipper Luka Modric, insisting the Real Madrid midfielder should be awarded the Ballon d'Or following yet another sensational season for club and country.

After the win Croatian players - led by Luca Modric - defeating England to make it to the final of World Cup first time ever, Grabar-Kitarovic also joins the celebrations.

Asked why his side had won, Dalic said: "Because we were the better team in all segments of the game".
