Lakers Trade Offers for Kawhi Leonard 'Unacceptable'

The Sixers have shown a willingness to trade for Leonard without a promise that he'd re-sign with them in 2019, when he'd be able to opt out of his contract.

On the official first day of free agency, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that a group of members for the 76ers met with LeBron James' agent Rich Paul on Sunday to try and get LeBron to Philly. Leonard reportedly wants to be traded to the Lakers, or he will sign with them next summer when he becomes a free agent.

National Basketball Association star Lebron James has decided not to pick up the player option on the a year ago of his deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and will become a free agent, according to ESPN. Others competing for his signature can only offer a four-year contract worth $152 million.

In addition, the Sixers have also started talking to the San Antonio Spurs about trading for Kawhi Leonard with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz not available to be traded. James can also sign a short-term deal with Cleveland, something he has done each year since returning in 2014.

James has agreed to a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers for $154 million according his agency, opting out of the final year of his deal with the Cavaliers.

James has dominated the Eastern Conference over the last eight seasons. The Lakers have a number of intriguing young players, including Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma, that they may look to trade as they enter "win now" mode.
