Pakistan complete series whitewash over Zimbabwe

Fakhar Zaman in action against Zimbabwe.

The previous record was jointly held by Vivian Richards, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton de Kock and Babar Azam who all reached the milestone in 21 innings.

India has six such five-match ODI series win followed by South Africa who won five series, West Indies, Australia and Sri Lanka with four 5-match series clean sweeps each.

During his innings, Zaman also became the fastest batsman in ODI history to complete 1000 runs in the format during his knock.

Zaman amassed 515 runs in the five matches at a staggering average of 257.50 which makes him the only Pakistani batsman to score over 500 runs in an ODI series. The boundaries did dry up for a few overs post the dismissal but Imam at the other end was in his elements again to bring up his third hundred of the series - a feat that only got overshadowed by Zaman's heroics. The youngster has now managed to convert all his half-centuries into tons.

The opening duo added 704 runs as batting partners in five innings of the series, which is the most by any batting partner in a bilateral series. Imam-ul-Haq at midwicket took a good diving low catch.

Babar Azam had not really had an opportunity to put on a big score in the series prior to Sunday. It was a perfectly constructed innings and ensured that Pakistan crossed the 350-run mark for the second time in succession.

When will the 5th ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe start? Prince Masvaure made 39 and Ryan Murray contributed 47 - personal bests for both players in their short careers.

"We took each match one by one and the credit goes to the players as they were focused and didn't take Zimbabwe lightly", he said.

Attaining the target of 365 seemed to be the last thing on the mind for the hosts as they instead sought to play out the full 50 overs after their recent batting collapses.

Sarfraz praised the team's performance and their ability to stay focused throughout the series but he also mentioned that a whitewash over the home side was not something they were thinking about.
