Trump fires off explosive threat to Iran's leader

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a Twitter threat against Iran and their president Hassan Rouhani.

The United States will work with countries that import Iranian oil "to get imports as close to zero as possible" by November 4, Pompeo said.

Hours after the president of Iran warned of the "mother of all wars" if the United States acts aggressively toward his country, President Trump blasted back on twitter with an angry message warning the Iranians never to threaten him or America.

President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal in May and the first sanctions to be reimposed were expected to hit on August 4.

Rouhani cautioned Trump on Sunday about pursuing hostile policies against Tehran, saying: "War with Iran is the mother of all wars".

Addressing diplomats in Tehran on Sunday the leader also told Trump:"Do not play with the lion's tail, because you will regret it eternally".

On May 8, Donald Trump announced that the United States would be withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, ending the positive diplomatic relations between the two countries that had been created by President Obama.

"Anyone who understands the rudiments of politics doesn't say "we will stop Iran's oil exports".we have been the guarantor of the regional waterway's security throughout history", Rouhani said, Reuters reported.

"Peace with Iran would be the mother of all peace and war with Iran would be the mother of all wars", Rouhani added for good measure.

Within hours, Iran's state-owned news agency IRNA dismissed the tweet, describing it as a "passive reaction" to Rouhani's remarks.

In a speech late on Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo denounced Iran's leaders as a "mafia" and promised unspecified backing for Iranians unhappy with their government.

Roundly applauded by his audience, Pompeo affirmed support by Washington for protesters who have taken to the streets of Iran as economic woes mount after the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear accord.

He lit into what he called Iran's "hypocritical holy men", saying the ruling elites have enriched themselves through corruption, and called out officials by name who he said had plundered government coffers through embezzlement or by winning lucrative contracts.

The heightened rhetoric follows the Trump administration's launch of an offensive of speeches and online communications meant to foment unrest and pressure Iran to end its nuclear program and its support of militant groups, according to usa officials. The audience included Iranian-Americans, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton - a leading Iran critic in Congress - and former California Governor Pete Wilson.

Pompeo also blamed the government for Iran's economic woes, which have led to anti-government protests nationwide.

Wazne says Iran could well go to war to protect its oil exports, the foundation of its economy. The United States supports you.

"You can not provoke the Iranian people against their own security and interests", Rouhani said in a televised speech Sunday, ahead of Pompeo's address.

Some experts say Kim is using diplomacy as a way to win outside concessions and weaken USA -led worldwide sanctions.

"The decision for regime change is one that should come from the people of Iran, and they will decide to do this, whether it comes sooner or later".

Several members of the Trump administration and Trump's circle have been outspoken hawks on Iran. Potentially that would escalate the very situation the nuclear deal sought to avoid - an Iran with a stockpile of enriched uranium that could lead to making atomic bombs.
