Trump's Palm Beach club looks to hire 61 foreign workers

According to federal Department of Labor documents BuzzFeed first dug up yesterday, the Trump Organization has filed a request for 40 more foreign workers at Mar-a-Lago, the douchey villa he owns in Palm Beach that will hopefully be swallowed by the ocean one day soon.

The server jobs will start at $12.68 per hour, while cooks will make a minimum of $13.31 per hour, according to the filings posted Thursday on the Labor Department's website.

The club is hiring 40 waiters and waitresses and 21 cooks to work the busy season from October 1 to May 31.

H-2B visas, however, can only be obtained if there are no American workers available, which the President has insisted otherwise throughout his campaign and presidency.

If the Florida resort's request is approved, Mar-a-Lago will have 261 foreign temporary workers on the controversial H-2B visa. The nearby Everglades Club - known for being more private in its affairs and restrictive in its admissions than Trump's club - also posted an application seeking to hire 15 foreign cooks for the coming season, at the same salary as Trump's club.

The president is known to speak about the "Buy American, Hire American" policy on several occasions and has often asked businesses to opt for usa workers. The Mar-a-Lago club is just one example, Trump's golf club in NY and Trump Winery in Virginia also hired dozens of foreign workers.

Rates for cooks start at $13.31 an hour, three cents less than past year.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the Red Cross received a $21,000 donation from the Trump Foundation in 2015-which was also the year in which it moved its event from The Breakers (a major high-end hotel in South Florida) back to Mar-a-Lago. Earlier this year, the company asked to hire 14 foreign workers to be cooks and waiters at the Trump golf club in Westchester County, New York.

Trump's competitors have said the seasonal nature of resort work - which picks up in the fall and drops off in the spring when wealthy snowbirds leave Palm Beach - is not attractive to American workers.

Trump's foreign hiring spree comes as he took to Twitter to hail the latest USA employment figures, writing 'JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!' And the Trump Winery near Charlottesville sought to employ 23 foreigners.
