Aretha Franklin is 'gravely ill', according to U.S. report

The Queen of Soul cancelled several concerts this year citing health issues.

Musician and 'Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin is reportedly "gravely ill' in a Detroit hospital.

The family of legendary singer Aretha Franklin is asking for prayers at this time.

Franklin, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, last performed in November 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in NY.

'I will be recording, but this will be my a year ago in concert, ' she announced during a Detroit radio interview that February.

Aretha began her career the 1950s, and released her first album "Songs Of Faith" in 1956.

Showbiz 411 reports Franklin, 76, was diagnosed with cancer back in 2010.

Yahoo Entertainment has contacted Franklin's representatives for comment. The 18-time Grammy winner's last public performance was in November 2017 at the Elton John AIDS Foundation's gala. Yet reports by the National Enquirer put her extreme weight loss down to a cancer relapse and chemotherapy in 2017.

Aretha's name is trending on Twitter, with thousands of fans sending messages in tribute to the star.

Aretha has previously denied reports that she was battling pancreatic cancer in 2011.

"I feel very, very enriched and satisfied with respect to where my career came from, and where it is now", Franklin said.

"Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months", her management said in a statement.

She revealed she planned to keep recording but confirmed it would be her previous year in concert.
