Game of Thrones Season 8 release could be delayed

Brace yourselves. you might have to wait almost a year for the Game of Throneseighth and final season premiere (say it ain't so!), but HBO has finally released a teensy bit of footage for diehard fans.

Coming back to Game of Thrones, most of the footage used in this compilation was from the penultimate season. However, over the weekend, a visual effects supervisor for the show told the Huffington Post that the team is just now beginning to work on Season 8 and that the season should be eligible for Emmy consideration in 2020.

It's the briefest look at the new season.

As with the Season 7 premiere, the first footage showed up in a promotional video for the premium cable network's upcoming 2019 lineup.

Traditionally, the Emmy awards judge television talent up until May 31, which is the cut-off date for all entrants. And Bauer said something interesting: "In two years we'll be eligible for the Season 8 work, which we're just beginning now".

But what would be a monumental reunion ordinarily seems to be laced with doom, as Jon hugs a haunted-looking Sansa.

Joe continued: "We're going to be toiling away on season eight until May of 2019, so it's eight or nine months away".

He added: "So much of it comes down to timing and all that stuff". The spin-off which will be set 10,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The clip shows Jon Snow and Sansa Stark reunite after Snow's battle with the White walkers in season seven.
