President Donald Trump Comes To Tampa Tonight

The war of words intensified between two titans in Republican politics on Tuesday as President Donald Trump trashed the conservative billionaire Koch brothers as a "total joke in real Republican circles".

US President Donald Trump campaigned in the battleground state of Florida Tuesday, hoping to energize Republicans facing a stiff test in November polls.

Trump also referenced America's escalating trade dispute with China and insisted that the targets of retaliatory tariffs are with him. Bush had dropped out by the time the Florida primary took place, but Trump won Florida with 46 percent support to Rubio's second-place 27 percent showing.

Trump's call for voter ID laws rests on the false claim that there is rampant voter fraud during elections.

"You know, I live a lot of time in Florida", Trump said.

Although photo identification is required for some purchases, such as alcohol or cigarettes, by and large, it's not.

According to the National Grocers Association's most recent data, the use of checks as a percentage of total transactions dropped from 33 percent in 2000 to 6 percent in 2015, due in part to the popularity of debit cards, which use PIN codes.

The idea is that President Donald Trump will do his best to throw his support behind Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), who is running for states GOP gubernatorial nomination over his rival Adam Putnam in the primaries coming up on August 28. Scott is seeking to defeat Democratic Sen.

"I'm confident that there's an terrible lot of Trump-Putnam voters out there who want a governor who actually understands the challenges facing them and puts them first", said Putnam, who also has lauded Trump's record as president.

"Right now, it gives an edge to DeSantis, but there are still a few weeks for Putnam to try to come from behind", said political analyst Susan Macmanus, "But he's running defense".

Florida represented a crucial triumph for Trump in the 2016 presidential election and the president has maintained a steady presence in the state, returning frequently to his winter home in Palm Beach.

Trump is praising DeSantis as "a tough, brilliant cookie" and predicts: "He's going to be your next governor".

The new ad is certainly tongue-in-cheek, a nice departure from the increasingly negative attacks between DeSantis and Adam Putnam.

He said Tuesday: "After a while, you forget who's the senator".

Scott didn't joined Trump at the rally but appeared with him at an earlier roundtable event.

His appearance alongside DeSantis comes after the candidate released a new campaign ad for the gubernatorial race, featuring his entire family's devotion to all things Trump. Officials in Boston also are considering allowing non-citizens to vote.
