At 5 p.m., Isaac was located near 15.4N 56.6W or about 250 miles (400 km) east-north east of Barbados.

The storm is tracking to the west at 16 miles per hour. This general motion is forecast to continue today with a decrease in forward speed as it gets over the Caribbean Sea.

By the time it moves through the central Lesser Antilles, Isaac is expected to be near hurricane strength before weakening on Friday.

Subtropical Storm Joyce has maximum sustained winds of near 45 miles per hour (75 km/h) with higher gusts.

Tropical Storm Helene is already transitioning to an extra-tropical cyclone southwest of the Azores Islands, Met Eireann says.

"We do not anticipate experiencing any tropical storm or hurricane force winds, but we could experience rain and will be placed under a flash flood watch", said Governor Kenneth Mapp in a release issued late Thursday.

As of noon ET Monday, Florence was moving at 13 mph, some 575 miles south-southeast of Bermuda the hurricane center said . Hurricane Isaac - which late Sunday became the fifth hurricane of the season - is heading west towards the Caribbean.

Besides Florence, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring four other systems now.

Philippine authorities began evacuating thousands of people Thursday from the path of the typhoon, closing schools, readying bulldozers for landslides and placing rescuers and troops on full alert in the country's north.

The National Hurricane Center said Florence will eventually break up over the southern Appalachians and make a right hook to the northeast, its rainy remnants moving into the mid-Atlantic states and New England by the middle of next week.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Storm Helene is expected to push north-east towards the United Kingdom late Monday, before clearing quickly to the north of Scotland through Tuesday morning". He said parts of North Carolina had seen storm surges - the bulge of seawater pushed ashore by the hurricane - as high as 10 feet.

Coastal and river communities on the north side of Florence are getting the worst of the flooding as the hurricane swirls onto land pushing a life-threatening storm surge.
