Jose Mourinho slams Manchester United's attitude in draw against Wolves

Sanchez is still a world-class footballer but does not look it at United and, his debut at Yeovil Town, the win at Wembley against Tottenham and the second half of the league game at Manchester City aside, moments of outstanding football beauty have been few.

The newly-promoted side shared the points, posting a remarkable performance on the day Sir Alex Ferguson returned to the Theatre of Dreams after a brain surgery.

United took the lead through Fred in the 18th minute before Joao Moutinho levelled the scores in the 53rd minute.

The Englishman has enjoyed a mixed start as a boss, having been sent off against Preston and also seeing his team get thrashed by Leeds.

"I'm more disappointed today than I was against Tottenham". "I am pleased. Everybody in the stadium saw two very good teams trying to play, go face to face. They did. That attitude made a difference", he further added.

Fred elebrates after scoring a goal to make it 1-0 during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on September 22, 2018.

Mourinho said that after three straight wins - the most recent in the Champions League against Young Boys Bern on Wednesday - he was baffled by the performance.

Mourinho was scathing of his team's attitude, claiming Wolves played like it was a World Cup final and United were only at 30 per cent.

Attitude is the sort of thing that can be enormously positive, such as giving yourself the moniker of "the Special One" before delivering Chelsea their first title in decades, or it can be negative, such as, hmmm, I dunno, poking someone in the eye.

After three wins from three away games, United entered the match perhaps confident of a win, but it didn't materialise, something which Mourinho said was hard to understand.

He said: "I can't tell you, because I'm a player". We come home with a good spirit, we come home let's say in peace because we recover. If we had played against Wolves like we did against Tottenham, then we win. Yes, it's a mental situation.

But, by the time they equalised seven minutes into the second half, Nuno's team was good value for a goal, even if it owed much to poor United defending.

"I'm proud of the way we played - the way we defended, organised, putting bodies in front of the ball, and the way we created, produced our chances".

On the task of stopping United, he continued: "We know what we're coming up again".
