Osaka wins tenth straight match to power into Tokyo final

Osaka wins tenth straight match to power into Tokyo final

Within the last Naomi Osaka will play towards Carolina pliskova.

The U.S. Open champion, who upset Serena Williams in the final in NY at the beginning of the month, won her ninth straight match Friday, beating Barbora Strycova 6-3, 6-4.

Pliskova broke once in each set in the decider, while Osaka - whose 10-match winning streak came to an end - was unable to set up a break-point opportunity.

Undaunted by the partisan crowd, the 26-year-old Pliskova was willing to mix it up with the hard-hitting home favorite from the outset, riding her own powerful serve and ground strokes to victory. She also made the final in Madrid earlier this year as she closes in on a Top 10 place for the first time.

Pliskova has spent more time on court than any other player at this tournament despite a first round bye and was once again dragged into a long contest by a dogged Vekic.

Organisers of next month's Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open are keeping their fingers crossed that Naomi Osaka would make her highly anticipated return to the city after she complained of exhaustion in her straight-sets defeat by former world number one Karolina Pliskova at the Pan Pacific Open yesterday. Meanwhile, Osaka advanced to the third round and had Madison Keys on the ropes before the American rallied for the win. But I served really well and that got me out of a lot of trouble today. "As I am feeling very exhausted today, maybe I wasn't doing the little things well".

Furious with Israel, Russia gives Assad advanced anti-aircraft system
Russian Federation sells arms to Iran and supports the nuclear deal with Tehran - which Israel has vociferously lobbied against. According to the statement, Putin reiterated that Russia holds Israel responsible for the downing of the Russian plane.

"I didn't want to try to overpower her because she just has more power than me", said Pliskova.

"Because if you set a really high goal, than normally, for me at least, I tend to overwhelm myself".

She can still, however, take heart from her recent run of form as she looks to finish the year on a strong note. "She was playing well, and I served well".

"I've literally never felt more exhausted in my entire life", she told reporters, confessing that she needed some time off.

She thumped an ace down the middle on the first point and held her first two service games to love.

Pliskova is set to climb to the seventh position in the WTA rankings and strengthens her chances of competing in a third consecutive WTA Finals Singapore.
