Trump accuses China of election interference, placing 'propaganda ads'

Trump claimed at a United Nations Security Council meeting Wednesday that the Chinese are engaged in an active measures to disrupt the 2018 elections in retaliation for his hard-hitting tariffs.

In a press conference on Wednesday, the USA president told reporters about hearing China's respect for his "very, very large brain" from Michael Pillsbury, the director of the Center on Chinese Strategy at the Hudson Institute.

"China has all along followed the principle of non-interference", Wang said in the same session, which was chaired by the U.S. president.

The accusations against China came this week from U.S. President Donald Trump, who said he has evidence but so far has not released any.

"I can say definitively that it's a sufficient national security concern about Chinese meddling, Iranian meddling, and North Korean meddling that we're taking steps to try and prevent it", Bolton said on ABC's "This Week."

Trump's meeting with Netanyahu came, symbolically, just ahead of his chairing a meeting of the UN Security Council about nuclear proliferation.

Speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Trump said that "regrettably, we found that China has been attempting to interfere" in the 2018 elections.

An escalating trade war between the United States and China and other countries could end up hurting the USA economy the most, new research from the European Central Bank said Wednesday. Some opinion polls show that the Democratic Party could make a strong showing, notably in the House.

In September, Trump tweeted: "China has openly stated that they are actively trying to impact and change our election by attacking our farmers, ranchers and industrial workers due to their loyalty to me".

The United States has imposed tariffs this year on $250 billion worth of Chinese imports.

U.S. intelligence officials have said previously that other nations could opt to try to copy Russia's playbook of meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The aide said that the influence campaign goes beyond USA elections to the media that can and cannot be consumed. China, on the other hand, is interfering on behalf of Trump's opponent, according to the president. Trump frequently describes investigations into the interference as a political witch hunt. He also used the topic to talk about Iran, North Korea and the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

He specifically mentioned Russian Federation and Iran as being connected to the continuing violence in Syria before reiterating the need for USA sanctions on Iran.

"Maybe he's not any more, I'll be honest with you", Trump replied.

On Tuesday, Trump had extended "special thanks" to Xi for support of US efforts to get North Korea to commit to denuclearization.

"We don't want them to meddle or interfere in our election". Mr. Trump's own national security leaders have said Russian Federation continues its interference efforts ahead of the midterms, though they have said the activity is not occurring with the same intensity as it did in 2016. "This includes illegal ship-to-ship transfers which must end immediately", he said.

In a freewheeling and at times wild press conference late last night, the U.S. president also revealed that he had snubbed Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, during their visit to the United Nations - saying that relations with Canada were not good, and raising the spectre of collapsing Nafta.
