Trump warns Syria, Russia and Iran against Idlib 'tragedy'

He said France will press at this month's U.N. General Assembly for a political solution in Syria, and is holding talks with Russia, Turkey and Iran to push them to use their influence with Assad to ensure political negotiations after the war ends. The U.S. has deployed its navy in the Mediterranean to attack Syria with Tomahawk missiles while Russian Federation has also deployed its warships in front of the U.S. warships.

According to Hüsnü Mahalli, a Syrian journalist living in Turkey and who has a variety of sources from the field, told Cumhuriyet newspaper the real problem regarding the Idlib crisis could be the foreign terrorist fighters among the native jihadists.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Friday met with Syrian opposition head in the capital Ankara.

Assad's forces have already begun massing in the areas of Idlib already under its control and on its southern and eastern flanks.

All the while seeking to pressure Turkey into reining in jihadists in Idlib, Damascus's main sponsor Russian Federation has been sounding the war drums in recent days.

After years of war and constant shelling from pro-government forces, the emergency services in Idlib have been reduced to rubble and supplies of critical aid are low, according to medical workers.
