Celtic's Europa League hopes hit by RB Leipzig defeat

Celtic are facing a defensive crisis ahead of Sunday's Betfred Cup semi-final after Jozo Simunovic was carried off during Thursday's night's 2-0 Europa League defeat to Leipzig.

"We have a few other players".

'I felt we were finding the spaces well and were getting into good positions moving forward.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes Hearts will not have an on-field advantage when they play in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Murrayfield on Sunday.

"Where we are as a club, these type of games, this level of opponent, you want your best players available", he said.

They also have plenty of work to do in the Europa League, having lost 3-1 away to Red Bull Salzburg last time out, following their 1-0 home win over Rosenborg.

"It's about going and performing and taking that confidence of going to play and not being frightened to make mistakes. We've brought the form back into our game".

The majority of damages were reported on Zante, in particular at the largest port of the island, which nevertheless remained open. The power cut and slight damage to the port of Zakynthos , near the epicentre, would not affect port operations, officials said.

"They have had a really good start and we know Hearts is always going to be a hard team to beat", Lustig was quoted as saying by the Herald.

Lustig, who is poised to wear the captain's armband on Sunday due to the absence of Scott Brown, went on to claim that Hearts play simple but effective football and insisted that Celtic are expecting a tough game in the capital city of Scotland.

Hearts against Celtic being played at Murrayfield means the game is "more neutral" says Tynecastle boss Craig Levein, believing Hampden is like a "second home" to Celtic.

The home side cruised their way through the second half to leave the Scottish champions in third place with three points from nine, with leaders Salzburg on nine and RB Leipzig second with six.

'We had a big chance through Odsonne Edouard after seven minutes and then had a period of 15 minutes where we did well.

"I think my point before the last game was to have an opportunity to have been there and train at the stadium", said Rodgers.

It must have been a major kick in the teeth for the wide man to be omitted for the European clash when he saw the team-sheet and it's going to take something remarkable to get his season back on track now.
