YouTube is finally back online after a global outage

There's been a steady stream of comments on social media sites tonight asking why YouTube is not working worldwide.

The Google-owned video hosting website initially tweeted to say it was aware of issues around accessing YouTube and its YouTube TV and Music subscription services. "If you continue to experience issues, please let us know".

YouTube tweeted that they apologized for the inconvenience and would keep users updated at 8:41 p.m.

Some of the terms most searched for during the outage included "YouTube is down", "YouTube down", and "YouTube error".

Reports said YouTube TV and YouTube Music were also affected.

As of around 10:00 am, the reports seem to have died down on Downdetector, indicating that the service is getting back online. The company is yet to issue a statement on the reason behind the massive outage. Attempts to visit individual channels on the website returned "500 Internal Server Error" messages.

YouTube went offline at around 9 a.m. this morning, surprising a lot of internet users.

Meanwhile, about 80 minutes later, Team YouTube said: "We're back!"

The YouTube Team later announced on Twitter that the website had been fixed.

YouTube was founded in 2005 and was bought by Google in 2006.
