With six nominations, United States singer Camila Cabello, whose hit song "Havana" reached the top of the U.S. charts in January, is in prime position for the MTV Europe Music Awards held Sunday in Spain.

"I accept this award with profound gratitude", she told the crowd, after being introduced by singers Jason DeRulo and Camila Cabello.

Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez did not attend either.

Other notable performances included Bebe Rexha singing "I'm a Mess" while in a bathtub surrounded by nurses and 100 dancers and Halsey performing "Without Me" surrounded by rainfall.

November 5 (UPI) - Camila Cabello dominated the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards, while Janet Jackson took the stage to perform and receive the Global Icon Award.

Frontman Brendon Urie was depicted in a video as climbing down the façade of the Bilbao Exhibition Centre before he was lowed from the hall's ceiling while singing the opening of "High Hopes". "Women who have been gagged, both literally and emotionally".
