John Lewis Christmas ad: Can Elton scoop the Christmas Number 1?

The advert titled, "The Boy and the Piano", features Sir Elton John playing his hit "Your Song" and how it's evolved over time. We then see a series of flashbacks from throughout his career, showcasing various performances of the track and its initial studio recording.

Other moments include a pub gig as a teen, a school recital, all building up to when young Elton gets his first piano - a moment that is based on John's recollection of when he first played a piano at his grandmother's house.

"But it's more about encouraging people to think thoughtfully about the people they are buying gifts for".

Elton John is in the middle of the USA leg of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour - his last ever - at the moment.

Speaking to The Telegraph the musician said he was honoured to be a part of the campaign that brought back many warm memories for himself and his family.

It features John as a child receiving a piano as a Christmas present.

Horner said it had been damaged in Mexico by a marshal spraying foam on the vehicle after he retired from the race. With team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne last of all, the only vehicle Alonso could beat was the Williams of Lance Stroll.

In a twist, it focuses on the life of Elton John with his classic "Your Song".

United Kingdom press reports the campaign cost about £7 million ($12.6 million) and most of this was spent on buying media.

Fans of the new John Lewis ad included former MP and Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls, who said it was "totally brilliant", and TV presenter Susanna Reid who responded: "Absolutely love it".

After 11 months of waiting, they've finally dropped their new Christmas ad for 2018.

The ad, directed by Seb Edwards, was alleged to have broken all records on budget spend, but the John Lewis team broke down the "whole package" for Metro.co.uk earlier this week.

Some may remember that it is the second time "Your Song" has been used by John Lewis to promote their festive offerings, as Ellie Goulding performed her rendition for the 2010 advert.
