‘Khashoggi Was Strangled & Dismembered,’ Says Turkish Prosecutor

"In accordance with plans made in advance, Jamal Khashoggi was choked to death immediately after entering the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul on October 2, 2018, for marriage formalities", the office said in a written statement.

Turkey says that despite all well-intended efforts, authorities have unable to reach "concrete results" in the investigation of Khashoggi's killing.

"Now we have to solve this case".

It would also project Saudi Arabia as a rogue state and call into question USA and Saudi allegations that Iran is the Middle East's main state supporter of terrorism.

Irfan Fidan, the chief prosecutor of Istanbul, made the accusations, for the first time publicly detailing claims that Turkish officials had made anonymously in the weeks since the Saudi journalist disappeared in the consulate.

Celik also said it was not possible that Saudi officials had still not found the journalist's body after almost a month of investigations.

The statement by chief Istanbul prosecutor Ifran Fidan comes as Turkey pressures Saudi Arabia to extradite the 18 people detained it for their role in the killing of Khashoggi. Riyadh has refused the request.

At a memorial in London on Monday, Cengiz urged Trump to "help reveal the truth and ensure justice be served". "He should not allow my fiance's murder to be covered up".

Turkey is seeking the extradition of the Saudi suspects detained for the killing, which happened after Khashoggi entered the consulate on October 2.

Turkey is pressing Saudi Arabia for a full disclosure about the killing.

It eventually admitted he died inside the consulate and only recently acknowledging that Turkish evidence shows his killing was premeditated. The Saudi leadership has since blamed a "rogue operation".

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir on Saturday said the global outcry and media focus on the killing had become "fairly hysterical".

Fidan's comments came as Saudi Attorney General Saud al-Mojeb, who has been in Istanbul for three days in connection with the investigation, was due to depart Turkey.

"Let's know who this co-conspirator is, we can shed further light".

The crown prince later stated the journalist's death was "really painful to all Saudis". He has denounced the murder as "repulsive" and strongly denied any involvement.
