Politico Reporter: Broward County Election Practices Are ‘Nonsensical’

A recount is mandatory if the winning candidate's margin is less than 0.5 percentage points when the first unofficial count is verified Saturday by Florida's secretary of state.

Although the delay is gaining national attention, Earley said this is the typical process for any election. Marco Rubio have implied that Broward County election officials are committing fraud by miscounting or creating votes. The race remains too close to call, with Nelson narrowly trailing Scott. The Georgia contest drew attention because of Kemp's role as the state's top election official and allegations by voting rights groups and Democrats that he used his position to suppress minority votes.

Trump accused Democratic election officials in the two Florida counties of corruption, without providing any evidence. At 1 a.m. today, there were 695,700 ballots cast on Election Day. That would be fine if elections supervisor Brenda Snipes were following the laws requiring transparency in the process, but she's not.

The announcement comes just one day after Florida Gov. Rick Scott - the Republican candidate for US Senate in the state - requested the state law enforcement agency investigate possible fraudulent activity in Broward and Palm Beach counties as his race against Democratic Sen.

Marc Caputo, the co-author of Politico's Florida Playbook, said Friday that the election practices in Broward County, Florida are "nonsensical" as the county faces widespread scrutiny for its handling of ballots in the 2018 midterm elections.

Bill Nelson by a sliver in that race.

The legal action comes as Nelson is headed toward a recount in his Senate race with Republican Gov. Rick Scott.

In the Florida governor's race, Republican Ron DeSantis' lead had winnowed to about 36,000 votes, or 0.44 percent of the vote.

Undecided races in Tuesday's midterm USA elections are keeping the states of Florida, Georgia and Arizona on edge. In the hours after the polls closed, Broward County should have known exactly how many ballots they had in each category, with the exception of overseas military votes that may continue to trickle in.
