Rugby league: Jarryd Hayne released on bail following aggravated sexual assault charge

Police investigated the incident but decided not to charge Hayne.

The 30-year-old was arrested by members of the NSW Sex Crimes Squad in relation to an investigation of a sexual assault allegation made against the out-of-contract NRL star.

The father of one attended the police station at 4pm accompanied by his manager Wayne Beavis for what was understood to be a prearranged appointment with detectives.

"The 30 year old is accused of going to a home north of Newcastle on NRL grand final night, where he was greeted by his alleged victim", Seven News claimed on Tuesday night.

Two years later and he is now facing sexual assault charges. The alleged victim said she and some friends met Hayne and his friends at a bar.

But, at some point during the incident, the woman claims Hayne's actions turned criminal and she suffered injuries as a result.
