Teenager strangulates mother for scolding him over ‘poor grades’

Chitwood said Ramos told them what really happened after he initially tried to say his mother dropped him off to school Friday morning.

A 15-year-old aspiring homicide detective has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder after authorities said he strangled his mother and then recruited friends to help bury her body following an argument about his grades.

After killing Gail, Ramos confessed to inviting school friends Dylan Ceglarek and Brian Porras, both 17, to his house to stage a burglary. The next morning, the suspect allegedly went to school, returned home, then called 911 to report his mother missing.

After the killing, authorities said the boy called friends to help him make it look like someone had burglarised the home.

The two 17-year-old teens will be released on house arrested under the condition they remain under 24 hour electronic monitoring.

Chitwood described the schoolboy as "soulless", said he showed no remorse, and is "among the top three sociopaths I have ever encountered".

A 15-year-old boy is facing a murder charge after deputies found his mother's body buried under a fire pit at a church early Saturday morning, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The boy left to school, and after returning home from school on Friday, he told deputies that his mother had vanished. The Associated Press typically does not identify juveniles charged with crimes.

At some point during conversations with investigators the teen confessed to carrying out the murder and staging the burglary with the two other teens.

Volusia County sheriff's detectives are investigating the suspicious disappearance of a DeBary woman who went missing Friday and is considered endangered.

Deputies also recovered a shovel and broom used to bury Cleavenger and straighten up the scene around the fire pit.

"I have a feeling this is a case we'll be hearing about for years to come", he said. The items were found in the woods by the pit, at a local gym and at Ceglarek's home, Chitwood said.
