The ‘sickening’ Trump ad that links cop killer to caravan migrants

President Donald Trump blamed Democrats Wednesday for allowing a deported cop killer back into the USA, but as it turns out, the convict's return occurred under Republican leadership.

Luis Bracamontes, now on death row at San Quentin for killing a California sheriff's deputy and detective in 2014, is featured in the fearmongering video that critics are comparing to the notoriously racist "Wille Horton" ad attacking Michael Dukakis during his Democratic run for the presidency in 1988.

The video - produced for the Trump campaign and posted by President Trump - shows Bracamontes grinning in court and threatening to "kill more cops soon".

Horton, who was African-American, raped a woman after he was released on a weekend furlough from a MA prison where he was serving a life sentence in 1987.

The President took to Twitter on Thursday morning, to urge his followers to "Vote Republican now!" and share a clip of Latino man Luis Bracamontes' courtroom appearance.

President Trump is leading an 11th-hour Republican charge in Florida amid a surge of interest from young voters that could secure the pivotal state for the Democrats on Tuesday. The campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The tweet stirred up controversy, and some replies to the tweet criticized Trump for focusing on Bracamontes and not US citizens who committed mass shootings.

"To all the Republicans who think that words don't matter, who rationalize support for the president because of judges or tax cuts, who insist that domestic terrorism is unrelated to normalization of virulent racist rhetoric and who remain silent believing they have no moral responsibility for this brand of politics", she continued before focusing on the Fox News network and all of its employees - from the chairman on down -for sinking to the bottom with Trump.
