U. S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigns

U. S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigns

In his resignation letter, SESSIONS writes, "we have restored and upheld the rule of law - a glorious tradition that each of us has a responsibility to safeguard".

Mr. Sessions, in a one-page letter to Trump, said he was resigning "at your request".

Mr Sessions cited his role as a senior adviser to the Trump presidential campaign as the reason he would not oversee the probe and instead and appointed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to oversee the investigation.

Last month, on Oct 10, The Washington Post reported that Trump had recently spoken with Matthew about replacing Sessions as attorney general.

Sessions resigned from the Trump administration's Justice Department on Wednesday, just after midterm election results began to roll in. In that scenario, Mueller's budget could be reduced "so low that his investigation grinds to nearly a halt", Mr. Whitaker said during a July 2017 interview with CNN.

"The Trump Organization's business dealings are plainly not within the scope of the investigation, nor should they be", Whitaker added in that August 6, 2017, op-ed.

Paris Masters: Djokovic's epic victory over Federer among the hardest wins
Khachanov is the first Russian to win an ATP 1000 Masters tournament after Nikolay Davydenko who won in 2009. And he showed great quality today and he showed why we're going to see a lot of him in the future.

ATP Finals: Rafael Nadal an injury doubt for London
It helped him to maintain the remarkable spell of form that has seen him rise from number 22 in June to the top of the game again. "And, of course, I'm very, very happy and proud about it", the Serb told reporters. " Roger (Federer ) is in the race".

In a statement released after his news conference Wednesday, Schumer also called on Whitaker to recuse himself from oversight of the investigation. The New York Democrat says it would spark a "constitutional crisis" if Trump forced out Sessions as a "prelude" to ending or limiting Mueller's investigation.

We hope that the next Attorney General will address overly harsh prison sentences and work with the White House and Congress to reduce mass incarceration at the federal level.

The President was furious when Mr Sessions recused himself from investigations into Russia's possible meddling in United States elections and collusion with the Trump campaign, paving the way for the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Muller.

Mr Trump, a long-time critic of Mr Sessions, has thanked him for his service. Rosenstein, who many suspected Trump would fire following reports that he wanted to invoke the 25th Amendment against the president, has a previously scheduled meeting at the White House set for Thursday.

"It should end because it is very bad for our country ... and they should look at the other side also", he told reporters.

Sources told Fox News on Wednesday that Whitaker is expected to oversee the Russian Federation investigation, although his eligibility to do so will have to be determined by Department of Justice ethics officials.
